As a child, some books that influenced Alma Flor Ada include those written by Louisa May Alcott, Johanna Spyri, Emilio Salgari, Jules Verne, and Charles Dickens. These authors and many other helped to fuel her imagination and informed her of lives that were, seemingly, very different to her own, but, upon closer inspection, not that different at all.
